27th Annual YMCA Book Fair at Carondelet Family YMCA August 26 – 31, 2005
Next month is the 27th Annual YMCA Book Fair at Carondelet Family YMCA. Mark your calendars for August 26 – 31, 2005. I had a great time last year and left with a huge box of books. Not only are the books in the gym but in every available room as well as under tents in the parking lot. It is huge!

“First Selection Night” Friday, August 26th, 4:00 – 10:00pm. Admission $10
Free Admission Saturday, August 27th – Wednesday, August 31st, 9:00am – 9:00pm
“Half Price Day” Tuesday, August 30th
$6 Per Box Wednesday, August 31st
The Carondelet branch of the YMCA is located at 600 Loughborough, just East of I-55.

Are the years-old rumors about the Carondelet Y’s imminent closing still flying around, or have things been stabilized there for the next few years?
When the new South City Y on Sublette opened, the stories about the demise of the Carondelet Y really heated up. But that’s been a few years now, and the Loughborough branch is still open.
My sister just joined there a few months ago.
What about the plans for a new federally-funded community center to built in Carondelet Park? I heard that the Y was being considered to operate that planned facility. You can imagine how the Carondelet project would really put pressure on the Y to close the Loughborough branch…
