Hello from Steve
Thanks everyone! My recovery is coming along fine. Thanks to all my family and friends who have been helping out beyond the call of duty, and especially for the food deliveries. I just enjoyed pad thai from Sen courtesy of my downtown neighbors. I’ll post as I can.
I’m in rehab at St. Mary’s Health Center in Clayton. The staff here are great. Even though the stroke affected the left side of my body, my left-leaning perspectives are intact. I hope to back on the scooter soon.
Meanwhile, look for more guest posts. Thanks for the cards, and the nice comments and emails. I am watching and reading and plan to be posting more again soon.
Love,
Steve
So I am the only one on a Friday night checking email?
Steve, great to hear directly from you. I miss your voice in the urban debate.
Hey Steve,
Welcome back. I am glad to hear that you are improving. Take care and come back strong.

Hi Steve,
I’m hoping you’re having a quick recovery. I was pretty shocked when I saw Anthony French’s post on pubdef.net about you.
Hi Steve,
Great to see you back in action !!
Great to hear from you and glad to know your left-leaning perspectives are intact.
Looking forward to hearing more very soon.
Yay! We’ve been waiting for this post!
Yay! We’ve been waiting for this post!
Make your first official return post a particularly prickly issue, and get everyone’s dander up.
Welcome back online, Steve old boy. You sounded GREAT on the phone the other night. Margie called las night told me that you look absolutely FABULOUS. She also tells me you’re jealous of all the cooking I’ve been doing. Well get yourself on you feet, come visit in Chicago, and I’ll cook you anything you like! I make a great vegetarian pasta sauce. Hurry up and get better. Everyone misses you!
Hey Stevo-
SO glad to see you posting again-
I’m totally proud of you- you’re recovering like a champ, and we’ve all missed you so much.
We think of you daily, and will visit again soon.

Steve, we’ve only met once (SWS’s Royale Party) and while I rarely have time to do anything online other than work, I have been watching your blog and waiting for you to resurface. I was worried! Resurrect, then tell us all about the hospital design elements and care.
Steve! Can’t wait to see you back in the saddle again!!
Steve,
Glad to have you back up and running so you can give balance to offset your right-wing sibling. You do sound great over the phone. Keep up the hard work of getting better. Yeah Steve!!
Love you.

north side resident- Thanks for the information. I’m not from the north side, but would like to attend.
It’s great to hear from you directly, Steve. I just spent two days looking for bad curb cuts in San Diego in your honor, but they’ve really got it together there… didn’t see a one.
Steve, glad to know you are recovering so well. Hope you will soon be back in the groove, scootering around St. Louis trying to figure out ways to solve it’s problems. One problem I hope you will look into, and that is, why in this day and age when the city wants to make itself “pedestrian friendly” do they allow people to close off a sidewalk with their privacy fences? To be specific, I am talking about the walkway that cuts through between houses starting at the alley between Bancroft & Winona (at 5300) and goes north all the way to Pernod. Are those walkways not city property? Why do they allow people to close them off with their fence? In one case I know of, the concrete was even torn out and sodded over. I know I’ve seen the same thing in another location, but I can’t remember exactly where. Hopefully, if the weather permits this weekend, I can get out on my bike and scout around for more cases of this. Something you can keep on the back burner until you are really back on your feet.
Hi, Steve.
It’s so good to hear that you’re doing better. You’ve been in the thoughts of everyone at SPJ … we miss you! … and wish you a speedy recovery.
Please let us know what other local delicacies you like, or anything else you can use to improve your hospital stay, and we’ll bring it over.
Welcome back Steve!
