Candidate Files for 25th Ward Aldermanic Seat!

January 7, 2005 Politics/Policy 9 Comments

I have it on very good authority that a candidate has filed today, the last day, for the 25th Ward Aldermanic seat against incumbent Dorothy Kirner. And how do I know this?

The candidate is me. Yes, I have decided to run for the St. Louis Board of Alderman. In the coming days I will set up my campaign committee, website, etc… If you would be interested in volunteering email me privately. If you’d like to offer some feedback, suggestions, endorsements, feel free to use the comments section below.

Also of interest is a fourth candidate in the race for Mayor. Willie Marshall filed yesterday afternoon as a Green Party candidate. Today is the deadline for filing.

  1. This is what we’ve been waiting for, folks — a chance to get a progressive urbanist on the Board of Aldermen.

    Go Steve!

This is exciting. I was just telling Claire last night how depressing the upcoming municipal election was going to be — lots of unupposed Democrats, no strong urbanists on the ballot — and how people have been complaining about alderpersons & Slay but aren’t willing to challenge them. This brightens my day. Thank you, thank you!

YAY! Glad you’re going for it. Kick some ass, please. As your friend of 15 years, this will be a very lucrative opportunity for me (if the local newspapers are interested in buying all the tawdry stories I know about you). Is there any sort of ‘Jerry Springer’ show in St. Louis? Would they fly me in? If so, can I stay at your place without you being all mad at me about it?

[Very funny my friend. Actually it has been more like 17+ years that we’ve been friends. We are getting old… I don’t think anyone would pay you for stories on me – I certainly didn’t get any offers when I tried to sell them. ;-). The watch party for the campaign will be primary election night – March 8th. It will be raining in Seattle so come for a visit! – Steve]

Best of luck. If there’s anything a resident outside the 25th Ward can do to help out, please let us know; I’m sure you’ll have a lot of support throughout the city.
