SaveStAloysius.org Website Launched

January 11, 2006 History/Preservation, Politics/Policy, South City 2 Comments

The number of people advocating the adaptive reuse of the former St. Aloysius church, rectory and convent has been growing exponentially over the last month. To coordinate their efforts a new website domain has been registered — www.SaveStAloysius.org.

The new site has been set up with links to several sites including this one. Bookmark the site and look for more to come soon.

Did you see yesterday’s Town Talk in the South City Journal? (The authorative source on the community mindset and always a good source of entertainment.) A “caller” (Town Talk is a voicemail box for rants from citizens) was outraged that people wanted to save St. Al’s. He couldn’t understand why, given the state of decay the building is in. He also apparently lives across the street. Anyway, a rebuttal might be in order.

Yes, old buildings and cracks in St. Louis, what a surprise!
