Four “county” offices up for election in 2010, only one challenged

July 27, 2010 Politics/Policy 8 Comments

A week from today is the Missouri primary.  In some races for State Rep and Congress there are more than a single candidate for each political party, but of the four “county” offices in the City of St. Louis this year only one of the four is challenged, and none will be challenged in the November general election.  The other three will skate through this primary and the November general without an opponent.

The three that will automatically have another four years in office are Collector of Revenue Gregory F.X. Daly, License Collector Michael McMillan, and Recorder of Deeds Sharon Quigley Carpenter.  Clerk of the Circuit Court Mariano V. Favazza is being challenged by attorney Jane Schweitzer.

The domain marianofavazza.com, registered via GoDaddy on 10/14/2008, links to unflattering articles about the incumbent Circuit Clerk.   I’ve not met challenger Jane Schweitzer but I suggest you read her issues page and see what you think.  I did not find a candidate website for Mariano Favazza. Please be sure to vote next week.  For voters in the City of St. Louis you can see sample ballots for each party at the St. Louis Board of Elections.

While you correctly identify the website “marianofavazza.com” in the picture caption, you link to “marianofavazo.com” in the text of the post.

    • Thanks, I've corrected the mistake.

Your site is a joke. You are listed as a Facebook friend of Jane Schweitzer, so your claim to not know her is absurd. Further, there is not toilet in the Carnahan building. Mike Owens, in all his greatness, took quotes extremely out of context, as was evidenced by the text used on screen. The only toilet privately available to the Circuit Clerk is the one in the office in the Civil Courts building. I would suggest you remove the link from your comments section as the video could very easily be defamation of character, which leaves you open to liability. Finally, listing the website created by a coward to cast Mr. Favazza is a poor light as his own website is poor “journalism”. Even the slightest search would have revealed that his campaign site is favazza.info. Glad I could do your job for you.

Ain't it great to see local politics down in the mud. And you wonder why most people have such a low opinion of politicians?

As for private toilets, it's not the cost, it's the concept, that anyone is above mixing with their subordinates or the general public. These are public officials in public buildings with public restrooms – use 'em!
