Dumpsters Block Pine Street Sidewalk At The Park Pacific
I’ve not had much reason to walk along the south side of the Park Pacific building but that changed on Monday when three new eateries opened for business: Smoothie King, Alumni St. Louis, & Flying Cow Frozen Yogurt.
Very handy having these three so close to my loft! Unfortunately a problem exists reaching all three. You see, the roll out dumpsters for Park Pacific are frequently left out blocking the sidewalk along Pine. Depending upon where they are it’s ether a pain in the butt, or impossible, to pass by in a wheelchair. The able-bodied are forced into the street as well.
The dumpsters have a designated space between the Park Pacific and adjacent parking garage, yet someone is just leaving the out where the block the sidewalk. Hopefully this won’t continue!

Did you call the property manager? I’d suspect a formal complaint might elicit some action. I had a dumpster issue one time last year and my Alderman offered to come over to my house and help me push it down the alley away from my garage door, that’s service!
The other alternative, and the one I’m pulling for, is to gather up some friends and roll those things into the Parkade above. After all, that’s where 4 wheeled vehicles belong (not on the sidewalk)…don’t forget to pull a ticket for each one.
I mentioned the Park Pacific on Twitter this morning but I’m going to email Steve Smith now.
Steve Smith emailed me back within 2 minutes saying he would take care of it.
Did you look in the dumpsters? If they were full, it’s on the building. If empty, it was negligence by the City’s waste collection employees.
The Park Pacific, like my condo building, hires private contractors to collect our trash & recycling. The city just needs to enforce keeping the sidewalk passable.
Okay, so were they empty? If so, let the building manager know their contractor is doing it wrong. Or, alternatively, let the City know so they can be out their to ticket them the next time.
Both have now been made aware of the problem.
Perhaps Steve managed to catch these receptacles out on days they are usually tucked in their proper spaces, but either way it demonstrates apathy.
